About Tonya Peterson

I have been taking pictures long before I ever had a camera. I remember when I was very young I used to look out of the window while we were driving and think to myself what a beautiful picture that would make.
In 2002 I moved to New York & my boss encouraged me to take some classes at the local community college. I chose to take a B&W darkroom class. As soon as I stepped into the darkroom I knew I was home. There is something deeply satisfying about seeing your art appear right in front of you in the darkroom developing trays.
I returned to Utah in 2003 and started pursuing a photography degree at Salt Lake Community College. One of the best decisions I have ever made was to enroll in the Summer Intensive program at Rocky Mountain School of Photography in 2004. It was the most challenging and rewarding summer of my life. Since graduating I have been blessed to be able to shoot wedding across the country. My love of weddings and traveling has married into one amazing career. I have recently fulfilled one of my goals, which is to teach photography. I love showing people what an amazing art medium photography is and what can be done with it.
I truly feel like the luckiest girl in the world.
